About Test Prep Trainer

Test Prep Trainer is a free, browser-based practice tool built around the two skill areas that show up on nearly every standardized admissions and placement test: vocabulary and math fundamentals. There's no sign-up, no app to install, and no data leaves your device — everything, including your quiz history and scores, is stored locally in your browser.

Vocabulary Trainer

The vocabulary trainer covers high-frequency words that regularly appear in reading passages and sentence-completion questions on standardized tests — words like ubiquitous, ambiguous, meticulous, and pragmatic. Study them as flashcards (tap to reveal the definition, then use Prev/Next or Shuffle), or switch to Quiz mode for multiple-choice practice with immediate feedback and a running score.

Math Practice

The math set spans four core categories that make up the bulk of standardized math sections:

Arithmetic — order of operations, fractions and decimals, negative numbers, exponents, square roots, rounding, and LCM/GCF.
Algebra — solving linear equations, systems of equations, evaluating functions, expanding and factoring expressions, and inequalities.
Ratios & Percentages — proportional scaling, percent of a number, percent change, discounts, unit rates, and work-rate problems.
Geometry — area and perimeter of rectangles, squares and triangles, the Pythagorean theorem, circle area and circumference, angle relationships, volume, and slope.

Every question includes a full worked explanation shown immediately after you answer, so you learn the method — not just whether you got it right. Each answer in the bundled question bank was independently recomputed from the underlying numbers during development to confirm it's correct before publishing.

Timed Practice Sets

Once you're comfortable with the untimed drills, the Timed Test tab mixes vocabulary and math questions into a countdown-clock practice run — 10 or 20 questions for free, or full 40- and 60-question sets with Pro. When the set ends (by finishing or by the clock running out), you get a score report broken down by category, plus a dedicated review screen listing every question you missed alongside your answer, the correct answer, and its explanation, so you can immediately see and fix the gap.

Tracking Your Progress

Your quiz scores, timed-test history, and missed questions are saved automatically in your browser's localStorage — nothing is sent to a server. Pro adds a progress dashboard summarizing your accuracy by category and a missed-question drill that pulls together everything you've gotten wrong across sessions into one focused practice round.

Test Prep Trainer is an independent educational practice tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or produced by the College Board, ACT Inc., or any test administrator. Results and scores here are for self-study purposes only and are not a prediction of your official test score. Always supplement this tool with official practice materials from your test's administrator.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this test prep tool really free?
Yes. The vocabulary trainer, a rotating set of math practice questions across all five categories, and short timed practice sets are free with no account required. Pro unlocks the full question bank, longer timed full-length sets, and progress export.
What topics does the math practice cover?
Arithmetic (fractions, decimals, order of operations, LCM/GCF), algebra (linear equations, systems, factoring, inequalities), ratios and percentages (rates, discounts, percent change), and basic geometry (area, perimeter, the Pythagorean theorem, angles, volume, slope).
Are the answers and explanations checked for accuracy?
Yes. Every bundled math question was independently recomputed from the underlying numbers during development to confirm the marked answer is correct, and each question includes a worked step-by-step explanation so you can see exactly how the answer was reached.
How does the timed practice set work?
Pick a length, and the app pulls a mixed set of vocabulary and math questions, starts a countdown timer, and walks you through them one at a time. When you finish or time runs out, you get a score report broken down by category plus a review screen showing exactly which questions you missed, your answer, the correct answer, and the explanation.
Is my progress saved?
Yes, entirely on your own device. Your quiz history, best scores, and missed-question list are stored in your browser's localStorage. Nothing is uploaded anywhere, and nothing is shared.
What does Test Prep Trainer Pro add?
Pro unlocks the complete vocabulary and math question banks (instead of the rotating free sample), full-length timed practice sets, a personal missed-question drill that recycles exactly what you got wrong, and CSV export of your history.
Can I use this to prepare for the SAT or ACT specifically?
This tool targets the vocabulary and math skills that show up across most standardized admissions and placement tests, including the SAT and ACT. It is a supplementary practice tool, not an official or affiliated SAT/ACT product, and should be used alongside official practice materials from the test maker.
