AppVitamins is built and run by Tim Munnik, an independent software developer based in New Zealand. There is no company behind it and no team — every app on this site was designed, written, tested and published by one person.
The project started from a simple frustration: most small web tools that should take five seconds now want an account, an email address, a subscription, or the right to upload your file to somebody else's server first. AppVitamins is an attempt to build the opposite of that.
There are currently 86 apps here, and they fall into a few groups:
Almost every app here is a static page. When you use a calculator, the arithmetic happens in your browser. When you compress an image or merge a PDF, the file never leaves your computer — there is no upload step because there is nowhere to upload to.
The AI tools download an open-source model from a public content-delivery network the first time you use them, then run it on your own hardware using WebGPU or WebAssembly. Your audio, your photo, your text and the results are never transmitted to us or to any AI provider, because no server is involved in the processing. It also means those apps keep working offline once the model is cached, and there is no per-use cost to pass on to you.
You will not be asked to sign up to use anything on this site. Where an app remembers something — a saved invoice, a puzzle streak, a theme preference — it is stored in your own browser and stays there.
Most of what is here is free and stays free. Two things support the work:
Paid products are sold through Polar, which acts as the merchant of record and handles payment processing and any sales tax or VAT owed in your country. We never see or store your card details.
