Free Daily Sudoku — One Unique Puzzle Every Day

Welcome to Sudoku Daily — the free, ad-supported Sudoku experience built for players who want a genuinely fresh challenge every morning.

What is Sudoku?

Sudoku is a number-placement logic puzzle published in newspapers and apps worldwide. The objective is simple: fill a 9×9 grid so that every row, every column, and every 3×3 box contains the digits 1 through 9 exactly once. No mathematics is involved — only deductive reasoning.

Four Difficulty Levels

Easy puzzles (36–40 given clues) can usually be solved with naked singles: cells where only one digit fits. They are ideal for new players or a quick 5-minute break.

Medium puzzles (28–35 clues) require spotting hidden singles — numbers that can only go in one place within a row or box even when other candidates exist. Most players finish in 8–15 minutes.

Hard puzzles (22–27 clues) demand naked pairs, pointing pairs, and box-line reductions. A typical solve takes 15–40 minutes.

Evil puzzles (17–21 clues) are near the theoretical minimum of 17 clues needed for a unique solution. They require X-Wing, Swordfish, and advanced coloring techniques. Even experienced players may need 60+ minutes.

Daily Puzzle & Streak

Every day at midnight UTC, a new seed generates today's puzzle — identical for every player worldwide, so you can compare times with friends. Solve the daily puzzle to extend your streak counter. Missing a day resets it to 1.

Pencil Marks

Toggle pencil mode with the ✎ button (or press P) to jot candidate numbers in cells. Auto-candidate mode computes all legal candidates instantly using constraint elimination.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Sudoku Daily free to play?

Yes. Sudoku Daily is completely free. Revenue comes from non-intrusive banner ads displayed outside the game grid and optional rewarded ads for extra hints.

Does the daily puzzle reset at midnight?

Yes. The daily puzzle resets at 00:00 UTC every day. All players worldwide receive the same puzzle, generated from a date-based seed. Your progress on the current day's puzzle is automatically saved.

What is the minimum number of clues a valid Sudoku can have?

Mathematical research has confirmed that any uniquely-solvable Sudoku requires at least 17 given clues. Our Evil difficulty uses 17–21 clues, the hardest range possible while guaranteeing a unique solution.

What does pencil mark mode do?

Pencil marks let you record candidate digits in a cell — the numbers you think might belong there. Toggle pencil mode with the pencil icon or press P. Auto-candidate mode fills in all legal candidates automatically based on current board state.

How is my streak counted?

You earn a streak point for each calendar day (UTC) on which you complete the daily puzzle. Missing any day resets your current streak to 1. Your all-time best streak is always preserved.
