How to play MergeMelon

MergeMelon is a physics puzzle in the tradition of the Japanese arcade hit Suika Game (ใ‚นใ‚คใ‚ซใ‚ฒใƒผใƒ , "the watermelon game"). The rules take ten seconds to learn and a lifetime to master:

  1. Aim and drop. Move the hanging fruit left or right, then drop it into the jar. The next fruit is shown in the bubble at the top-right.
  2. Merge pairs. When two identical fruits touch, they pop and fuse into the next tier โ€” two Cherries make a Strawberry, two Strawberries make a Grape, and so on up the chart below.
  3. Chain combos. Merges that happen within about 1.4 seconds of each other build a combo multiplier. A single well-placed drop can trigger a cascade worth hundreds of points.
  4. Watch the line. If any fruit sits above the dashed danger line for too long, the jar wobbles red and the run ends. Keep your pile low and flat.

FAQ

What is the Suika game, and is MergeMelon the same thing?

Suika Game is a Japanese physics puzzle that went viral worldwide in 2023โ€“24: drop fruits, merge identical pairs, try to build the watermelon. MergeMelon is an original homage built on the same merge-drop loop โ€” same genre, our own fruits, physics tuning, scoring, and daily-challenge system. It runs free in any modern browser with no download.

How do I make a Watermelon?

You need ten consecutive merges up the chain: Cherry โ†’ Strawberry โ†’ Grape โ†’ Clementine โ†’ Mango โ†’ Apple โ†’ Pear โ†’ Peach โ†’ Pineapple โ†’ Honeydew โ†’ Watermelon. Since two Honeydews are 172 px wide each, you physically need a calm, well-sorted jar to fit the final merge โ€” which is why keeping big fruit low and in the corners matters so much.

What happens when two Watermelons touch?

Melon Magic: both melons vanish, you bank a 500-point bonus (multiplied by your active combo), and you reclaim a huge amount of jar space. Double-melon runs are how the top scores happen.

What is the Daily run?

Every day, one drop sequence is generated from the date, so every player worldwide gets the exact same fruits in the exact same order. Your best Daily score is tracked separately, and playing on consecutive days builds your ๐Ÿ”ฅ streak. It resets at local midnight.

Is MergeMelon really free? Are there in-app purchases?

Completely free. There is no real-money anything โ€” no purchases, no loot boxes, no paid continues. The game is supported by ads (the placeholder slots you see on this page) and affiliate links.

Does my progress save? Does it work offline?

High scores, daily bests, streaks, and stats are saved in your browser's localStorage โ€” they persist between visits on the same device but never leave it. After the page (and the small physics library) has loaded once, the game itself runs fully offline.

Why did my run end? I wasn't at the top!

The run ends when any fruit stays above the dashed danger line for about two seconds. Fruits briefly passing through the line as they fall are fine โ€” it's settled fruit resting above the line that triggers the red wobble warning and then game over.
